Jumping the Flagpole in Super Mario Bros. – Can It Be Done?
Hello friends, it’s Tim here from Super Mayhem! Awooo! 🐺 And boy howdy, do I have some exciting Super Mario Bros. Game Genie action for you today! Ever since I was a kid, I’ve wondered — what happens if you jump over the flagpole in the original Super Mario Bros. on the NES?
Surely, there must be something hiding on the other side — maybe a secret pipe, a hidden castle, or a magical warp zone? Well, childhood Tim didn’t have the skills to get past that pesky flagpole… but today’s Tim does — with the help of the Game Genie! 💥
So sit back, relax, and hit that subscribe button as we dive into the world of Super Mario Bros. hacks to find out if we can finally jump that flagpole! 🚩
Attempt #1 – APZLGG: Mega-Jump Code
First up was the APZLGG code, which promises a Mega-jump from a standing start. Sounds promising, right? Well… not so fast! I confidently bounced through the level, approached the flagpole, and… oops. I jumped right into it! 😅
Never fear! I’m not one to give up after just one try. Unfortunately, after dying several times in World 1-1, I had to admit — this code wasn’t quite enough. Perhaps pro gamers out there could master it better than I did! 🎮
Attempt #2 – YAZULG: Moon Gravity Code
Next up was YAZULG, boasting Moon Gravity from a Standing Start — pretty fancy! With this code, Mario hovered to the ground like a leaf in the wind. 🍃 However, my jump height still wasn’t quite enough. But then… I discovered that with the right momentum and trajectory off certain blocks, I could pull off a super jump!
I lined up for the flag, took the perfect leap, and… messed it up. 😩 But hey, after a few tries, I mastered the Moon Gravity trick shot and soared over the flagpole like a true Mario pro! 🏅
Spoiler alert — the other side is just endless background. But now I had a mission: What other ways could I break past the flagpole?
Attempt #3 – NTGLOI + AAGLXI: The Ground Remover Code
I thought I’d go under the flagpole next. Using NTGLOI + AAGLXI, I attempted to break through the ground itself. Sadly, this code only removes blocks that you hit — not the essential ground beneath the flagpole. No dice! ❌
Attempt #4 – GIIIVY: The Walk-Through-Walls Code
Now this was wild — the GIIIVY code promised I could walk through pipes, blocks, and walls. And sure enough… it worked! I accidentally slid into a pit at first (oops), but once I mastered the technique, I successfully scooted under the flagpole — even as Big Mario! 🎯 Success!
Attempt #5 – ESVLETEY: Invisible Blocks Code
This bizarre code claims to make blocks disappear after hitting them. Well… it did! But while it made Mario look like he was floating in mid-air, it didn’t help with the flagpole trick. Still, it’s a cool cheat for weird gameplay! 😎
Attempt #6 – PIGOAP: The Swimming Mario Code
Now this one had promise! With the PIGOAP code, Mario could swim on any level. Imagine my excitement — swimming past the flagpole? Perfect, right? Well… not quite. While Mario did gain his new aquatic skills, he couldn’t swim over the flagpole or access warp zones in Level 1-2. Still, this hack makes Super Mario Bros. way easier!
Attempt #7 – ESUINGEY: The Phase-Through-Blocks Code
Finally, I tried ESUINGEY, which claimed Mario could jump through blocks without breaking them. While it worked exactly as advertised, it didn’t get me over the flagpole. Oh well!
Final Thoughts
And that’s a wrap for today, my friends! While some of these codes gave me epic new powers, only a few actually helped break past the iconic flagpole. If you enjoyed this Game Genie adventure, be sure to hit that like button — let’s see if we can hit 400 likes! 👍
