How to emulate the NES game genie! | Video Game Hacking#

Hello friends it’s Tim here again from Super Mayhem, awooo, and boy howdy do we have some game hacking action for you today!

Over the years there has been many people asking how do you emulate the game genie when you play NES games? Well, today I thought I would answer that in the form of a short video.

So first of all, the NES emulator we will be using today is called fceux-2.2.2-win32 which is not only an easily obtainable emulator it is also one of the best ones I have come across as it plays most games and bootlegs and even includes recording capabilities if you want to save your game play! There may be a newer version available these days but this is the one I use.

Anyway, without going into too much about the emulator itself there is a very simple way to get the game genie rom running on your emulator. Simply download the game genie NES rom zip, link in description to a download, and paste it in the root directory of fceux like so. Next you want to extract the rom into the same directory but rename the extracted file to gg.rom.

The next step is quite easy, simply open up the emulator and from the options at the top select “Config” and then highlight the “enable” menu. From there you will see an option for “Game Genie Rom”, make sure you click on it so it is enabled.

And there you have it! Now once you open a rom on your computer the first screen you will see is the classic Game Genie cheat code screen, just as if you had the peripheral plugged into your Nintendo Entertainment System! You can then enter your codes as normal, or even use it for synching your audio for let’s plays where you can say out loud the letter you have highlighted or whatever method you use to sync for let’s plays! Then just press start and the game runs like you are using the game genie and selected game.

Now you are free to use any of the cheats that have been featured in my Game Genie Hijinx! Series, as long as it’s on the NES anyway.
